High Performance Liquid Chromatography:  HPLC

HPLC, or High Performance Liquid Chromatography, is an advanced instrumental technique capable of separating (or speciating) a wide variety of chemical compounds.

It is estimated that approximately 70% of all known compounds can be analyzed by HPLC!

After separation the analytes of choice are typically detected by UV spectrophotometry.
HPLC instrumentation is one of the best methods for the determination of organic compounds.  It gives us the ability to provide our clients with several important air-method applications, including phenol, cresol, aldehydes, ketones, nicotine, organic acids, and polyaromatic hydrocarbons.

These instruments are rigorously maintained and audited to ensure consistent and accurate results every time.  And whether your project is routine or not, our experience in using HPLC technology specifically for the air testing industry has enabled us to overcome many matrix issues such as low level concentrations, unusual methodology, complex matrices and difficult analytes.

We can even develop new methods for analytes that are not currently promulgated for testing. Ask us about our method development options.

Ion Chromatography

Onsite testing

Ion Chromatography is similar in nature to HPLC. The differences between the two are subtle but very important.

The heart of the instrument, called the column, contains a fundamentally very different chemical structure designed not to separate organic compounds but rather those with ionic charges, hence the term ion chromatography.   In addition to separation, the conductivity detector of this instrument is designed specifically to look for ionized compounds.

Our ion chromatographs are configured and quality assured specifically for air testing methods. You could easily state that IC analysis is the "bread and butter" of our business.

With 15 years experience in performing ion chromatography analyses we can typically resolve problematic samples very quickly.

Furthermore a large clientele for our chromatography services insures a consistently high productivity resulting in decreased per sample costs which we pass on to our customers as lower analytical pricing. A $44 HCl pricing per sample for EPA Method 26/26A analysis, for example, is one of the lowest in the industry.

We Now Offer The Following New Analytical Services:

Hexavalent Chromium (EPA SW-846 Method 0061)

This method measures chromium6 by metal-free ion chromatography paired with post-column reaction and visible wavelength detection.

HCN (EPA Conditional Test Method 033 [CTM-033])

This method measures cyanide by ion chromatography utilizing electrochemical detection.
